Our Story
My name is Royall “Nikole” Thompson, and I am the owner of Royall Acres Farm. I am a veterinarian technician by day, and a “farmer” the rest of the time. I have loved animals since I can remember and have never shied away from a little dirt under my nails and some hard work. I enjoy the peacefulness of living in the country and am happy to be able to raise my daughter, Morgan, away from the stress and chaos of city life. I like to think I’m giving her a glimpse into a simpler way of living.
My husband, Mark, is a wonderful and supportive man in many ways (helping unload the hay, building projects), but the animals are mine and my daughter's.
The farm began in 2005 as a joint venture between me and my mom. We started out raising meat goats including Boer and Boer-cross, then added Great Pyrenees for protection of the herd from other dogs and coyotes. Eventually, we moved from meat goat production to raising and selling the Great Pyrenees dogs as livestock guardians and wonderful pets.
Unfortunately, due to some life changes, we sold all of our dogs and the business closed in 2012 after 7 years in business.
In 2020, I decided to re-open the business so that I could raise my daughter on a farm, like I was raised. I knew I wanted goats but did not want the size of a meat goat breed, so decided on Nigerian Dwarfs. My daughter can enjoy these goats and I can handle them without additional assistance.
We also have chickens, meat rabbits, several pet dogs, horses, and various other animals. We have two LGD Great Pyrenees named Yeti and Sally and I have recently begun my journey in beekeeping.
